House and Senate calendar docket for Wednesday, January 3

The House and Senate will convene on Wednesday, January 3 and Thursday, January 4 for the first session of 2018. They will be voting on a number of bills:

HB 122, changing the procedure for withdrawal from a cooperative school district. Committee vote: OTP, 4-0.

HB 557, allowing school boards to send students to nonsectarian private schools. Committee vote: ITL (4-0)

House Consent Calendar

HB 155, fully funding full-day kindergarten. Committee vote: rerefer for interim study (18-0)

HB 207, prohibiting the implementation of the Common Core in primary and secondary schools. Committee vote: ITL (18-0)

House Regular Calendar

HB 505, creating an independent authorizer for charter school applications. Committee vote: refer for interim study (13-6)

HB 525, reauthorizing stabilization grants to districts. Committee vote: OTP with Amendment (18-0)

HB 609, creating a children’s savings account program. Committee vote: OTP with Amendment (16-3)

CACR 7, giving control of public school accountability, budgeting, and state funding formula to the General Court. Committee vote: ITL (12-7)

SB 193, creating a statewide voucher system through education freedom savings accounts. Committee vote: OTP with Amendment (10-9)
