Continued hearing on HB 216, prohibiting expulsions of K-2 students, on Feburary 21 at 10 a.m.

The House Education Committee will continue the public hearing of HB 216 on Tuesday, February 21 at 10:00 a.m. in LOB 207. The bill prohibits the expulsion of kindergartners, first graders, and second graders. It also sets limits on suspensions for students in those grades. It was recommitted to the committee after being sent to the full chamber.

Executive Session on HB 270, establishing a committee to study suspensions and expulsions, on January 19 at 9:30 a.m.

The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on HB 270 on Thursday, January 19 at 9:30 a.m. in LOB 207. The committee would study disciplinary actions against students as well as “laddered discipline” and positive behavioral intervention and supports (PBIS) by New Hampshire schools.

HB 271 requires the DOE to collect and publish data on suspensions and expulsions

HB 271 requires the DOE to collect and publish on the DOE website data related to suspensions and expulsions of students in kindergarten through 12th grade.  The report must include gender, age, special education status, school and school district, and reason for suspension.  (more…)

HB 103 requires districts to notify parents of certain course material

HB 103 requires school districts or teachers to provide parents and guardians with advanced notice of content relating to sexuality or sexual education. It also requires teachers to make the curriculum available to parents or legal guardians when possible.  (more…)
