Hearing on HB 557, allowing a district to send students to a private school, on January 25 at 1 p.m.
The House Education Committee will hold a public hearing on HB 557 on Wednesday, January 25 at 1:00 p.m. in LOB 207. The bill would allow districts to assign students to another school, including private schools, if the town does not have a public school. The bill also allows districts to approve contracts with other schools. Currently, the State Board of Education approves such contracts.
Hearing on SB 46, allowing students to participate in activities in other districts, on January 24 at 9:30 a.m.
The Senate Education Committee will hold a public hearing on SB 46 on Tuesday, January 24 at 9:30 a.m. in LOB 103. The bill requires districts to allow a student to participate in cocurricular programs outside of his or her district if the program is not offered in his or her home district.
